முஸ்லீம் சமூகத்தின் அரசியல் என்று யோசிக்கும் எவரும் எம் எச் எம் அஷ்ரப் எனும் ஆளுமையைப் பற்றித் தெரியாமல் அவருடைய கொள்கைகள் பற்றி அறியாமல் முஸ்லீம் அரசியலில் அவர் வகித்த அரசியல் வகிபாகம் பற்றி புரியாமல் இலங்கை முஸ்லீம் அரசியல் பற்றி பேச முற்படுவது யானை பார்த்த குருடர் கதையாகவே முடியும்.
இன்று அதிகாலை வாசிப்பதற்காக எடுத்த நூலொன்றில் தலைவர் அவர்கள் 10.04.1989 இல் பாராளுமன்றத்தில் ஆற்றிய உரை ஒன்றினை வாசிக்கக் கிடைத்தது.
வடக்கும் கிழக்கும் இணைக்கப்பட்டு இலங்கை இந்திய ஒப்பந்தம் எழுதப்பட்டபொழுது முஸ்லீம் சமூகம் சார்பாக எந்தக்கருத்தும் பெறப்படவில்லை.
இரவோடிரவாக முஸ்லிம்களின் எதிர்ப்புக்கு மத்தியில் வடக்குடன் கிழக்கு இணைக்கப்பட்டது.
அப்போது தலைவர் அஷ்ரப் அவர்கள் இலங்கை இந்திய ஒப்பந்தம் இலங்கை முஸ்லிம்களின்மீது எழுதப்பட்ட அடிமைச்சாசனம் என வர்ணித்தார்.
தேசிய இனப்பிரச்சினைக்கு நிச்சயம் தீர்வு காணப்படவேண்டும் எனும் நிலைப்பாட்டில் உறுதியாய் இருந்த தலைவர் அஷ்ரப் அவர்கள் அந்தத்தீர்வானது பிராந்திய அடிப்படையில் அல்லாது சமூகங்களை அடிப்படையாய்க் கொள்ள வேண்டும் எனும் நிலைப்பாட்டில் இருந்தார்.
இலங்கையில் உள்ள முரண்பாடானது பிராந்திய அடிப்படைகளைக் கொண்டதல்ல சமூக அடிப்படையிலானது எனவே தீர்வு என்று வருகின்றபொழுது அது சமூகங்களைத் திருப்திப்படுத்துவதற்காக இருக்க வேண்டும் என அவர் வலியுறுத்தினார்.
ஆனால் இலங்கை இந்திய ஒப்பந்தமானது சமூகங்களை திருப்திப்படுத்தாது பிராந்தியங்களை இணைத்தமை வேடிக்கையானது என்றார்.
இலங்கை வாழ் முஸ்லிம்கள் இனரீதியானவர்களோ மொழி ரீதியானவர்களோ அல்ல அவர்கள் மதரீதியான அடையாளத்தைக் கொண்டவர்கள் என வலியுறுத்திய அவர் இலங்கை முஸ்லிம்களை மொழி அடையாளத்தைக் கொண்டோ இன அடையாள வகைப்படுத்தலைக் கொண்டோ அடையாளப்படுத்த முனைவதை எதிர்த்தார்.
இதுதான் முஸ்லீம் தேசியம் எனும் கருத்தியலுக்கான அவரது பெரும் பங்களிப்பு எனலாம்.
அந்த வகையில் வடக்குடன் கிழக்கை இணைத்தல் எனும் நிலைப்பாடு தலைவர் அஷ்ரப் அவர்களின் கருத்துக்கு நேர் முரண்.
இணைந்த வடக்கு கிழக்கில் நிலத்தொடர்பற்ற முஸ்லீம் மாகாணம் ஒன்றும் நிலத்தொடர்பற்ற தமிழ் மாகாணம் ஒன்றும் என்பது அவரது கனவாக இருந்தது.
இது தவிர என்ன வடக்கு கிழக்கில் என்ன வடிவத்தில் தீர்வு வந்த பொழுதும் அதில் முஸ்லிம்கள் தமிழர்களுக்குச் சமாந்தரமாக அந்தத் தீர்வில் பங்கு பெற வேண்டும் என்பதே அவரது நிலைப்பாடு,கொள்கை.
ஆக நமது முஸ்லிம் தலைவர்களின் இன்றய நிலைப்பாடு தலைவர் அஷ்ரப் அவர்களின் கொள்கைக்கு நேர் முரண் இல்லையா..?
The great leader MHM Ashraf’s stand on the ethnic conflict and the solution

Anyone who thinks about the Muslim politics cannot speak about it without knowing the personality of MHM Ashraf, without understanding his political role and his policies in Muslim politics.In the early morning when I reading a book, I have got an Ashraf’s speech was held in Parliament on 10.04.1989. i have got some ideas of him as follows.
In the absence of transparency, Social Care and the mutual concerned between the current Muslim leaderships about the north east merger and the solution for ethnic crisis, it is better to see how the leader Ashraf was having the ideal understanding on it. There was no care on the Muslim community when the Sri Lankan India Agreement was signed and merged the east with north in a single night as well as neglected the resistance of Muslims. The leader Ashraf exposed the Indo-lanka Accord has written as a slavery charter on Sri Lankan Muslims.
While Ashraf was firm in the standpoint of resolving the ethnic problem he believed the devolution of powers not only to region but also to the various communities. He emphasized that the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka is based on social bases that do not have regional bases therefore the solution for it should be satisfy the communities when it comes to force.
But the Indo Lanka Accord has merged two provinces without satisfying the communities it was funny he stated in parliament.
In the sense the current Muslim political leader’s stand on north east merger and solution for ethnic conflict is contradicting leader Ashraf’s above. His dream was a non-contingent Muslim province and non-contingent Tamil province in the merged North East.
Besides what it has been settled the ethnic conflict in what form in the North and East ,His position is that the Muslims should take part in the solution as a parallel to the Tamils.
