267 சிறைக் கைதிகளுக்கு ஜனாதிபதி மைத்திரிபால சிறிசேன பொதுமன்னிப்பு வழங்க ஒப்புதல்.
கொலை, கொள்ளை, சிறுவர் துஷ்பிரயோகம், பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் மற்றும் போதைப்பொருள் சுரண்டல் உள்ளிட்ட 40 குற்றங்களுக்கும் எந்த தொடர்பும் இல்லாத கைதிகளுக்கு இந்த பொது மன்னிப்பு வழங்கப்படும்.
இது 65 வயதுக்கு மேற்பட்ட கைதிகளுக்காக செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டது என்று சிறைச்சாலைகள் ஆணையாளர் நாயகம் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
Commissioner of Prisons Bandula Jayasinghe today said President Maithripala Sirisena has approved the release of 267 prisoners under a presidential pardon.
This amnesty will be given to prisoners with no relation to the 40 crimes listed including murder, mugging, child abuse, rape and exploitation of drugs.
The Commissioner of Prisons said this was implemented for prisoners above the age of 65 years. (Jayantha Samarakoon)
